Bachelor of Unani Medicine & Surgery (B.U.M.S) – Comprehensive curriculum for traditional medicine

B.U.M.S Program

Every student shall undergo a period of certified study extending over a period of Four & Half academic year from the date of commencement of his/her study for the subjects comprising the curriculum in Unani Faculty of the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine, New Delhi, to the date of completion of the examination followed by one-year rotating internship.

  • UNIUG-UAMF – Urdu, Arabic and Mantiq wa Falsafa (Urdu, Arabic, Logic & Philosophy)

  • UNIUG-KUT – Kulliyat Umoore Tabiya (Basic Principles of Unani Medicine)

  • UNIUG-TB – Tashreehul Badan (Human Anatomy)

  • UNIUG-MZ – Manafeul Aza (Human Physiology)

  • UNIUG-TT – Tareekhe Tib (History of Medicine)

  • Electives – Minimum three Subjects

    Second Year Subject

    • UNIUG-IA – Ilmul Advia (Pharmacology)

    • UNIUG-ISM – Ilmul Saidla wa Murakkabat (Unani Pharmacy & Compound Drugs)

    • UNIUG-TST – Tahaffuzi wa Samaji Tib (Preventive & Social Medicine)

    • UNIUG-MA – Mahiyatul Amraz (Pathology)

    • UNIUG-TQS – Tibbe Qanooni wa Ilmul Samoom (Medical Jurisprudence & Toxicology)

    • UNIUG-SUI – Sareeriyat wa Usoole Ilaj (Bedside Clinic & Principles of Management)

    • Electives – Minimum three Subjects

      Third Year Subject

      • UNIUG-MOA – Moalajat (Medicine)

      • UNIUG-QAN – Ilmul Qabalat wa Amraze Niswan (Obstetrics & Gynaecology)

      • UNIUG-IJ – Ilmul Jarahat (Surgery)

      • UNIUG-AUH – Amraze Ain, Uzn, Anf, Halaq wa Asnan (Ophthalmology, ENT & Dentistry)

      • UNIUG-AJT – Amraze Jild wa Tazeeniyat (Dermatology & Cosmetology)

      • UNIUG-IBT – Ilaj bit Tadabeer (Regimenal Therapy)

      • UNIUG-AAN – Amraze Atfal wa Naumaulood (Paediatrics & Neonatology)

      • UNIUG-RMS – Research Methodology & Medical Statistics

      • Electives – Minimum three Subjects

        Final Year Subject

        • Internship Duration – 12 Months

        • Details – Compulsory Rotatory Internship after passing Final BUMS Examination

          After passing the final BUMS Examination, one year shall be devoted by the student for his/her rotatory internship.

          Under Graduate (B.U.M.S)

          Four and half Year Degree Course in “Kamil–e–Tib–o–Jarahat”. Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (B.U.M.S.) with One Year rotating compulsory Internship.

          Admission Procedure/Eligibility

          A candidate belonging to Open Category must have obtained not less than 50% (i.e. 150 out of 300) marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together at the HSC (or equivalent) Examination. Candidate should have passed SSC (or equivalent) examination from the recognized board with Urdu or Arabic Language as one of the subject.

          There shall be a single eligibility cum entrance examination namely ‘National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for admission to BUMS courses’.
